I spent thousands of hours from 7th grade onward playing quiz tournaments, from dingy classrooms in forgotten basements to winning a national collegiate championship, then a world championship on BBC2TV. I co-founded NAQT with the best players, writers, and organizers of my day to provide players with the experience I wanted as a player. The success of NAQT all these years later has exceeded anything we could have dreamed possible, and it is thanks to the dedication of the players, coaches, and families who invest their own lives every week in pursuit of excellence.

Since NAQT I have become one of the world’s top venture lawyers, then one of the top global venture capital investors, investing in and helping create many “unicorns,” startups worth over $1 billion. Along the way I have helped promote innovative entrepreneurship worldwide, including for nonprofits and NGOs. I grew up under the poverty level with no one to show me the keys to living the life I was meant to live. I want to spend the last part of my career teaching the lifetime of knowledge I have accumulated, including a number of secrets hiding in plain sight.
